HisSong Honored With First GMA Dove Award Nomination

HisSong was honored with the group’s first nomination in the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. The nominees for the 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards were announced today at a special press conference at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau in Nashville, Tennessee.  HisSong received the first nomination of our career this morning in the category of Southern Gospel Album of the Year for the group’s Vine Records debut On the Way Up.

Dennis Humphries said, “When we got the call from our producer Wayne Haun, we were beyond excited!  We are up against some wonderful artists.  Just to be nominated is such an honor, and I thank God for this honor.  We also have to thank our producer Wayne Haun.  He has helped us more than words can describe!”

Our producer on On the Way Up, Wayne Haun, was also nominated in the Producer of the Year category.

Additional nominees in the Southern Gospel Album of the Year category include the Gaither Vocal Band, Karen Peck & New River, the Booth Brothers, and Kim Hopper.

The 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Grand Ole Opry House and will be broadcast live all over the country on Gospel Music Channel from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. EST.

HisSong to Participate in Christian Brothers Tour with Christian Davis on Select Dates

Rumors and speculation have been flying this week regarding Vine Records recording artist HisSong forming into a full-time quartet with popular vocalist Christian Davis.

Speculation began to crop up on email news lists, message boards, and blogs after a recent announcement from the group that they would be participating in the Christian Brothers Tour with Christian Davis. 

“We will not be forming into a quartet,” mentioned Dennis Humphries of HisSong.  “We are excited about joining Christian Davis on some tour dates, but HisSong will remain a trio and has no intention of becoming a full-time quartet.”

The Christian Brothers Tour will consist of a full concert with HisSong and Christian Davis ministering in individual sets before joining to perform select songs together. In addition, the group will be joining with Davis on a recording in support of the tour.

Dennis continued, “Christian called me not long ago and asked if we would be interested in recording a quartet project and do some very selective dates, and after much thought and prayer, we agreed.  It will be something different than anything we have ever done and will give us a chance to perform to some audiences that love only quartets.  We have not even talked about becoming a quartet other than the very few shows we are working with Christian. Christian is a great friend, and we look forward to working together on the selective dates.”

The first Christian Brother Tour date is Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in Atkinson, Wisconsin at the Fireside Theater with two shows 1:00 and 7:30 p.m. CST. 

HisSong and Christian Davis were in the recording studio last week recording vocals for the quartet.  The new quartet project will be releasing in March and will consist of hymns and original songs. 

HisSong will soon be teaming up with Vine Records and Wayne Haun to record their next studio recording and follow-up to the group’s breakout recording On the Way Up.  That album earned HisSong their first Top 5 hit (“I Still Have It All”) and another Top 10 hit (“That’s When God Steps In”). 

“I Still Have It All” Makes Singing News 2008 Top 20

The Singing News Top 20 Songs for 2008 are in and we came in at # 11 for the years Top 20 countdown with “I Still Have It All” which was in the Singing News Top 5 for four months We are excited to have our first # 2 national chart song in the Singing News for the months of August 2008.  We wants to thank ALL the Radio DJ’s who plays our music and ALL the fans across the country for calling and requesting “I Still Have It All.”
